Specialties
Our expertise is best used when executing your vision
requires major remodeling. In one example, the client
wanted no surface left untouched. In others, walls
have been moved or disappeared, and rooms that were
previously of low value have been translated into
beautiful, cherished spaces. To achieve these marvels,
we manage various contractors, subcontractors,
furniture and cabinet makers, stonemasons, lighting
analysts, and other types of construction crews with
skills demonstrated to us on our many prior projects.
In the interiors, we have extensive product knowledge,
and can lead you to a wide variety of products that
match your taste. We’re also experts in kitchen and
bath remodeling, as well as lighting design.

Firm Profile
We have led projects in places as diverse as
both coasts of the US, Aspen, Guam and Cairo, over the
last 30 years. Locally, we’ve completed projects as far
north in the Bay Area as Sea Ranch and as far
south as Los Altos. Our office is located in Orinda;
we have done many projects in the Lamorinda area.
Our repeat client base includes Fortune 500 CEOs,
technology entrepreneurs, college presidents and many
others who appreciate the value and quality of our
design and project management expertise. From
traditional to cutting edge contemporary design,

Provided award-winning interior design Alta Mesa Memorial Park, Palo Alto’s only cemetery. It’s a privately owned, 72-acre site established in 1904. The park replaced the original single-story Spanish Colonial Revival building with a new two-story facility echoing historical architecture and Mediterranean gardens. The new building includes a chapel that can seat 150 people.

Chief challenges of the project were to honor the crossroads of cultures, religions and values the park represents; celebrate the architectural style of the Spanish Colonial Revival exterior yet feel contemporary; and deliver authenticity within budget. The park’s management also hoped to facilitate a cohesive flow for memorial services and make it possible to expand business opportunities while accommodating ordinary office functions.... See More

After managing multi-media campaigns for several Blue Chip advertising clients, she added to her accomplishments a Master’s Degree in Interior Architecture and Design at the world-renowned Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). In 1998, she relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area. She spent several years working as a Designer at prestigious design firms including Brayton and Hughes and Barbara Scavullo Design. Cathleen Gouveia Design was founded in Sausalito, CA in April, 2004. Cathleen Gouveia is an Allied Member of the ASID, and a Member of IIDA. She is presently working on the launch of a signature collection of home furnishings and accessories under a new line entitled, “La Maison Marin”.

The hallmark of Cathleen’s style is a conceptual perspective that is unique to the history and vernacular of a building; and the rich personal history of each design client. Having studied in Europe, Cathleen has established a cornucopia of unique design sources, artisans and suppliers.
